Holocaust Education Ireland's Participation at IHRA Dubrovnik Plenary Session

Holocaust Education Ireland proudly took part in the IHRA Dubrovnik Plenary Session held from 12th to 15th June 2023 as part of the Irish delegation. The organization was joined by their esteemed colleagues from the Human Rights Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Irish Jewish Museum. Together, we made valuable contributions to the discussions on Holocaust education and strategies to combat Holocaust denial and distortion, as well as antisemitism.

One of the primary objectives of the sessions was to engage in meaningful conversations about Holocaust education. The aim was to explore effective strategies to combat Holocaust denial and distortion, which are crucial in preserving the memory of the Holocaust and preventing the repetition of such horrific events. Our active involvement in these discussions reflects their dedication to raising awareness and promoting a more inclusive and tolerant society.

Expressing our gratitude, Holocaust Education Ireland extends their thanks to their IHRA colleagues and the Croatian delegation for their excellent organization of the Plenary Session. This display of appreciation showcases their commitment to collaboration and highlights the importance of fostering strong working relationships. It also paves the way for future partnerships and the potential for continued progress in Holocaust education and combating antisemitism.

The IHRA Dubrovnik Plenary Session has provided us with an invaluable platform to share our expertise, experiences, and insights. By actively participating in these international forums, we contribute to the global effort to ensure that the Holocaust is never forgotten and that the lessons learned from this dark period of history are actively applied to promote tolerance and understanding.

Our involvement in the IHRA Dubrovnik Plenary Session has further solidified their commitment to these vital causes. Through our continued efforts, we hope to play a crucial role in shaping a more inclusive and enlightened society.
